The phone number to the ships quarterdeck is (619) 556-3820. For base information call (619)556-1011.
Where do I go if RUSHMORE is underway?
Email Command Sponsor Coordinator for instructions on checking in while we are underway.
Where will I stay when I first get to San Diego?
Every Sailor in RUSHMORE has a berthing rack or stateroom assigned to them. There is also storage room for uniforms and some civilian clothes. Some Sailors may qualify for berthing at Naval Station San Diego Barracks and others may qualify to live off the ship in family housing or in civilian housing. Contact the ship's Personnel Officer if you have any questions.
Where will my family stay when we first get to San Diego?
Suitable temporary lodging is open to service members and their families at several Navy Lodge's located in the San Diego area. For reservations, please contact the San Diego Navy Lodge at
navylodge@navylodge.navy.mil. Vacancies tend to fill fast in the summer and during certain peak travel times, so make your reservation early.
Sailors with families have a variety of Navy Housing or civilian housing areas to choose from in San Diego. For more info rmation on Navy Housing in San Diego, please contact sandiego@housing.navy.mil.
Where do I first check onboard RUSHMORE?
When checking aboard for your fist time you should go directly to the quarterdeck. The quarter deck is manned 24-hours a day. The Officer of the Deck (OOD) will log in your arrival and contact your work center for assistance. Please have you orders ready when you arrive and be in the Uniform of the Day.
How do I properly board RUSHMORE?
FROM 8 A.M. TO SUNSET
OFFICERS: Come to end of brow and face the aft end of the ship. Salute the National Ensign. Proceed to the Messenger of the Watch, present proper military identification and state: "I have permission to come aboard." The MOOW will then state: "Very well." Proceed to the Officer of the Deck for further assistance.
ENLISTED: Come to end of brow and face the aft end of the ship. Salute the National Ensign. Proceed to the Messenger of the Watch, present proper military identification and state: "Request permission to come aboard." The MOOW will then state: "Permission granted." Proceed to the Officer of the Deck for further assistance.
