CDR Villescas is a native of El Paso, Texas and graduated high school in Seattle, Washington. He enlisted in the Navy in 1989 and in 1992 was awarded a four year NROTC scholarship. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1996 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned a United States Naval Officer.
His first tour of duty was aboard USS CALLAGHAN (DDG-994) in Everett, Washington where he served as the Main Propulsion Division Officer through decommissioning. In April, 1998, LCDR Villescas reported to the USS INGRAHAM (FFG-61), also in Everett, serving as the Main Propulsion Division Officer and the Auxiliaries Officer. In January, 2000, LCDR Villescas reported to Sasebo, Japan to serve as the Operations Officer on the USS GUARDIAN (MCM 5).
In August 2003, LCDR Villescas reported to Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Mechanical and Astronautical Engineering and completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase 1.
LCDR Villescas returned to Sasebo in June, 2006 to serve as the Chief Engineer on board USS TORTUGA (LSD-46) followed by a tour as the Logistics and Material Officer (N4) on AMPHIBIOUS SQUADRON ELEVEN, also forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan.
LCDR Villescas’ tours ashore include U.S. Naval Forces Marianas Port Operations Officer at Apra Harbor, Guam, and as an African Exercise Planner and Africa Partnership Station Planner on the Commander Naval Forces Europe, Commander Naval Forces Africa, Commander Sixth Fleet staff in Naples, Italy.
LCDR Villescas’ awards include the Meritorious Service Medal; Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards); Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards); and various unit and service awards.
