CDR Jason W. Stewart
Executive Officer (November 2011 - June 2013)
CDR Stewart, a native of Bay City, Michigan, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May of 1997. He earned his commission as a Surface Warfare Officer with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
His first tour of duty was aboard USS DEYO (DD 989), where he served as First Lieutenant, Deck Division Officer and, later, as M Division Officer. While serving in DEYO, he completed a deployment with Standing NATO Forces Mediterranean. In February 2000, CDR Stewart reported to USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) where he served as Assistant Engineer and Damage Control Assistant. While serving in OAK HILL, CDR Stewart completed his second deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.
In May 2004, CDR Stewart reported to USS CURTS (FFG 38) as Operations Officer. While serving in CURTS, he completed a highly successful counter-narcotics deployment to the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Following CURTS, CDR Stewart joined MCM CREW FEARLESS in May 2006 as Executive Officer; deploying twice to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. In August 2007, he was selected to attend the Naval War College (NWC). While assigned to NWC, CDR Stewart obtained a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies and completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I). He is also a graduate of the Naval Operational Planner Course (now known as the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School).
CDR Stewart’s tours ashore include Training Officer on the staff of the Commandant of Midshipmen, US Naval Academy and Future Operations Officer/Staff Planner for Commander, Standing Navy Command Element/CJTF-Horn of Africa.
In June 2010, CDR Stewart reported to Commander, Carrier Strike Group TEN as Assistant Surface Operations/Training and Readiness Officer. He began his current tour in DENVER in November 2011.
CDR Stewart’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various campaign, service and unit awards.
