CMDCM (SW) Avinash “Tony” Ramsingh
Command Master Chief

Master Chief Ramsingh is a native of Guyana, South America and graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical High School in Yonkers, New York. He enlisted in the Navy in October 1994 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL. After completing Apprenticeship Training, he headed to Naval Station, San Diego where he reported aboard USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), from 1995 to 2000 as Deck Supervisor.

He reported to USS Elliot (DD 967) from 2003 to 2004 where he conducted a ship’s decommissioning and a crew swap with the USS Fletcher (DD 992) completing a successful deployment and decommissioning of the ship. From 2004 to 2006 he served as LPO for First Division and Operations Department aboard the USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG 57) in Pearl Harbor, HI. and was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His next duty station was aboard the USS CHUNG HOON (DDG 93) from 2006 to 2007 where he reported as LCPO for First Division. He then returned to USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) from 2007 to 2010 as Operations and First Division LCPO. CMDCM Ramsingh served as USS DECATUR (DDG 73) Command Master Chief from August 2012 to August 2015 and is currently serving as Command Master Chief aboard the USS SOMERSET (LPD 25).

His shore duty assignments include: Training Support Center, San Diego from 2000 to 2003, and Commander, Navy Region Southwest from 2010 to 2012.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1), Navy and Marine Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Achievement Medal (7), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (MOVSM), and various service and campaign awards.
