Command Master Chief
A native of Woodbridge, Virginia, Master Chief Lynch graduated from Osbourn Park Senior High School in 1991. He reported to recruit training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego in June 1991. Upon completion of recruit training, he reported to Radioman class “A” school in San Diego, California.
Following Radioman “A” school, he was ordered to his initial tour of duty, reporting aboard USS FORT FISHER (LSD 40), homeported in San Diego, California. While serving aboard FORT FISHER, he completed two Western Pacific Deployments in support of “Operation Desert Shield” during which time he was promoted to Third Class Petty Officer. In May of 1996, he reported to Navy Recruiting District Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri as a Navy Recruiter and Staff Support Person. In this capacity he served as the systems administrator and network manager for outlying Navy Recruiting Stations. After this highly successful tour, he was ordered to USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52), reporting aboard in January 2000 as a Second Class Petty Officer. He completed three deployments to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom and was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Upon completing this very challenging and rewarding tour, he was ordered to Navy Marine Corps Intranet Detachment, San Diego, California in November 2003. Shortly before his tour concluded in October of 2006, he volunteered for an IA with the Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa in support of the Global War on Terrorism, where he served as the J6 ADP SNCOIC and Operations SNCOIC. Upon completion of his IA in February of 2008, he attended the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 138/Green) in Newport, Rhode Island, successfully completing the course as an Honor Graduate. He then reported to the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in June of 2008 where he served as the ADP Leading Chief Petty Officer and Vice President of the Chief Petty Officer’s Mess. During his tenure onboard NIMITZ, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program, and went on to attend Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 161) in June of 2009. He then served as Command Senior Chief and Command Master Chief with MCM Crew CONSTANT, serving aboard USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13), and USS CHIEF (MCM 14).
Master Chief Lynch is currently assigned to USS SOMERSET (LPD 25) as the Command Master Chief.
His awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various campaign and service medals.
