San Diego, CA — During their recent trip to San Diego, the Diocese of Green Bay received a unique opportunity to tour a ship named for their city, USS Green Bay.
Ensign Timothy Mahoney, the ship’s main propulsion division officer and native of Green Bay, WI, escorted the group, which included Bishop Robert F. Morneau. They were able to see key areas of the ship’s operations, including the well deck, flight deck, and state-of-the-art pilothouse.
Mahoney described the experience as “a tremendous privilege” and added, “The group not only expressed how impressed they were with the ship itself, but also with the extraordinary hospitality shown by the crew. The Sailors aboard USS Green Bay truly exemplify the hardworking attitude and kindness imbued in the residents of Green Bay, Wisconsin.”
USS Green Bay is the fourth San Antonio class amphibious transport dock and is homeported in San Diego, CA.
