SAN DIEGO – (May 7, 2010) -- Members of the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) color guard parade the colors, while the ship’s choir performs the Star Spangled Banner for attendees of the San Diego Unified School District’s 28th annual Partnerships in Education Community Recognition Event at Sea World. This was the first time Makin Island’s choir and color guard performed at this San Diego tradition, which honors educational volunteers and partnerships throughout San Diego County. The ship’s choir also performed Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath my Wings” for the audience of nearly 500 attendees.
