SAN DIEGO (November 29, 2010) – Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Rick West goes through the serving line in the chief’s mess aboard USS Makin Island (LHD 8) during his first visit to the ship Nov. 29. West visited Makin Island to meet with the chief’s mess and congratulate Makin Island Command Master Chief Linda Handley on her 31 years of naval service.
