Makin Island is Conducting AV8 Operations 
An Aircraft Handler gives permission to an AV8B Harrier assigned to the Black Sheep of VMA 214 to take from MAKIN ISLAND  
 
PACIFIC OCEAN An Aircraft Handler gives permission to an AV8B Harrier assigned to the Black Sheep of Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 214 to take off from the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) during training exercises off the coast of Southern California. Makin Island is conducting AV8 operations in preparation for upcoming deployment.
