SAN DIEGO (December 9, 2010) – Judges from the 2010 Naval Base San Diego Ship Lighting and Decorating Contest admire a holiday cake on board the quarterdeck of USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The ship’s holiday display featured desserts, hot cider, Sailors caroling to holiday music, and a myriad of lights and decorations. The judges later awarded Makin Island first place in the large command category for displaying the best holiday spirit.
