SAN DIEGO – USS Makin Island (LHD 8) returned to port July 1 following two days at sea for Final Contract Trials (FCT) preparation, ending the ship’s Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) period. Makin Island Sailors continue their preparations for FCT along with other critical inspections later this fall.
