Command Master Chief

Master Chief Moore is a native of Mission, Texas, and enlisted in the Navy in June 1988. Upon completion of Recruit Training in Orlando, Florida, he attended Machinist Mate “A” School, completed the Nuclear Power Training pipeline in January 1990 and reported to the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) for his first sea assignment.
After his initial sea tour, he reported to the USS SIMON LAKE (AS-33) in La Maddalena, Italy serving as the Nuclear Repair (R-10) Leading Petty Officer and a Ship Superintendant in the Repair Office. He then reported to his third consecutive sea tour on the USS MISSISSIPPI (CGN-40) in Norfolk, VA serving as a Machinery Division LPO.
In July 1997, Master Chief Moore’s reported to his first shore assignment at Navy Recruiting District St Louis and served as a Recruiter, Advanced Program Coordinator and upon his Selection to Chief Petty Officer in 1998 served as a Zone Supervisor.
He reported onboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) in August 2000 and served as the Machinery Division Leading Chief and Reactor Training Division Officer. He completed two deployments and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2002.
In July 2003, he transferred to Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston, SC as a Leading Crew Chief and Machinery Division and Staff Training Group LCPO. He was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2005.
Master Chief Moore then reported to the USS NIMITZ as the Reactor Department Master Chief in 2006. Deploying twice in support of the Global War on Terror.
In June 2008, he transferred to the Commander Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet staff as the Force Reactor Department Master Chief, where he was selected to the Command Master Chief program.
Master Chief Moore reported to the USS Chancellorsville (CG-62) in December 2010 for his first Command Master Chief tour. In June 2013 he transferred into his current position as Command Master Chief of the USS Makin Island (LHD-8).
He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 106-Gold) and the Command Master Chief course at the Command Leadership School in Newport, RI.
Master Chief Moore has earned the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards. He has earned both the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualifications.
