Joey Tynch, commanding officer of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), presents a certificate of appreciation to Master Chief Fire Controlman "Old Tar" Thomas E. Ward at his retirement ceremony. "Old Tar" is a title traditionally given to the longest serving enlisted member in the Navy. Ward has served in the U.S. Navy for 32 years.
