Command Senior Chief (November 2013 - January 2014)

Senior Chief Petty Officer Rene Trevino hails from Houston, Texas, where he attended North Shore High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in April 1991. After completing basic recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Signalman ‘A’ School in Orlando, Florida.

He reported aboard the USS CROMMELIN (FFG 37) in August 1991, where he was promoted to Third Class Petty Officer and Second Class Petty Officer. There he completed deployments for Counter Drug Operations and to the Arabian Gulf.

After serving three years at the Naval Brig/Correctional Custody Unit, Puget Sound, Washington, he reported to the USS CHAMPION (MCM 4) in November 2000. Shortly thereafter he earned First Class Petty Officer. He transferred to MCM Crew FEARLESS and deployed with USS Dextrous (MCM-11) to the Arabian Gulf. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and returned stateside to Ingleside, TX aboard USS Chief (MCM-14).

He reported to COMUSNAVCENT Manama, Bahrain in August 2005 and served as N-3 Fleet Scheduler, N-5 Department LCPO and Southwest Asia Chief Petty Officer Association Treasurer.

In September 2006, Senior Chief Trevino transferred to Afloat Training Group, Yokosuka, Japan where he earned Senior Chief Petty Officer. He earned his Associates Degree in General Studies from Excelsior College in December 2007.

He transferred to COMSEVENTHFLT in October 2009 and assumed duties as the N-3 Department LCPO, Fuels Officer and Transit Plans.

Senior Chief Trevino’s most recent assignment was in October 2011 to the USS Essex (LHD 2) in Sasebo, Japan. Here he assumed Navigation LCPO and then conducted a Hull Swap to the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6).

Senior Chief Trevino’s unit and personal awards include: Navy Commendation Medal (6), Navy Achievement Medal (3) and numerous other campaign and unit awards.
