CDR Hans Sholley
Executive Officer (October 2013 - January 2014)

Commander Sholley is an upstate New Yorker and a 1992 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. CDR Sholley is a SH-60B pilot with over 3,300 hours in various maritime aircraft including the UH-3H, C-12B and TH-57B/C. His aviation assignments include HSL-46 Detachment Maintenance Officer and Quality Assurance Officer, Naval Air Station Key West Search and Rescue pilot and HSL -45 Detachment Officer in Charge and squadron Maintenance Officer. CDR Sholley commanded the Eightballers of Helicopter Training Squadron Eight at NAS Whiting Field from 2010-2011, training Unrestricted Naval Aviators for service in the fleet.

Commander Sholley’s sea duties includes two tours on USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6), first as the Aircraft Handling Officer, where he qualified as Officer of the Deck (Underway) and most recently as the Air Officer on board the Unites States Navy’s only forward deployed Amphibious Assault Ship. His other sea tours were aboard aviation capable ships to include USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG-49), USS CARON (DD-970), USS MUSTIN (DDG-89) and USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG-56).

Commander Sholley is a graduate of the Naval War College and was assigned to the Operational Plans and Force Development Directorate (J-7), on the Joint Staff in Washington D.C. where he served as a Battle Watch Captain in the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center.

Commander Sholley’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Award, the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two Gold Stars), the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal (three Gold Stars) as well as numerous unit and campaign awards.
