Boxer Responds To Medical Emergency At-Sea 
From USS Boxer (LHD 4) Public Afairs 
USS BOXER, Gulf of Aden – Amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) responded to a distress call from Bahamian-flagged, Greek-owned bulk carrier merchant vessel (M/V) Sunshine, providing emergency medical care to the ship’s master, June 20.

The master was reported as unconscious and unresponsive.

Boxer immediately altered course to close the 12 nautical mile distance and launched a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) with medical personnel embarked, who treated the Marine onboard Sunshine
until he regained consciousness and was stable.

Boxer is underway supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
