CMDCM(AW/SW) Scott McCreery
Command Master Chief (December 2011 - April 2012)

Master Chief Petty Officer Scott McCreery graduated from Great Mills High School, Great Mills, Md. in May 1985. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1989 and reported to RTC Great Lakes, Ill. where he completed Basic Training and Airman Apprenticeship Training. He then reported to USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) where he was promoted to Third Class Petty Officer and Second Class Petty Officer. He completed two Western Pacific deployments.
In 1993, he reported to Navy Recruiting District Philadelphia and recruited in the Washington D.C. area, earning the award "Recruiter of the Year" for fiscal year 1995. He was promoted to First Class Petty Officer and transferred in 1996. He reported to USS KEARSARGE (LHD 7) where he completed two Mediterranean deployments and earned the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist insignias before transferring to Naval Station Rota, Spain in 1998.
In October 2001, after duty in Europe, he converted to the Navy Counselor rating and reported to USS YORKTOWN (CG 48) where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. He completed two Counter Drug Operation deployments and one Persian Gulf deployment where he earned the Officer of the Deck (Underway) qualification before decommissioning YORKTOWN in December 2004.
He reported to Naval Station Annapolis, Md. and was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He earned an Associate’s of Arts degree in Counseling and Applied Psychology before disestablishing NS Annapolis in June 2006.
He transferred to the United States Naval Academy where he assisted in the training and mentorship of the Navy's future leaders in all aspects of shipboard and Navy life. He transferred in 2007.
He reported to USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) where he was selected under the Command Senior Chief program. He departed IWO JIMA to serve onboard USS ELROD (FFG 55) as the Command Senior Chief and was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer where he completed two 5th Fleet deployments and transferred in July 2010.
He served as the Command Master Chief of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Six (HSC-26) until November 2011.
Master Chief McCreery currently serves as the Command Master Chief of USS ESSEX (LHD 2) homeported in Sasebo, Japan.
Master Chief McCreery's personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6) as well as several other personal and unit awards.
