Command Master Chief Flynn is a native of Los Angeles, California. In January, 1988 he enlisted in the Navy and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, San Diego, CA. Following Basic Training, he attended Damage Controlman Class ‘A’ School at NTTC Treasure Island, CA.
His sea duty assignments include USS CAPE COD (AD-43), USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64), USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63) and USS ANTIETAM (CG-54).
His shore assignments include; COMATGMIDPAC as a Firefighting, Damage Control and CBR-D instructor, NMCRC Phoenix, Arizona as Training Officer and as Command Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Flynn’s overseas assignments include FDNF aboard USS KITTY HAWK, Yokosuka Japan, Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa, Camp Lemonier, Djibouti and COMNAVREGIONSW ASIA as the Region Equal Opportunity Advisor stationed in Manama, Bahrain.
He has served Command Master Chief tours in USS ANTIETAM (CG-54), Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron THREE and currently aboard USS PELELIU (LHA-5).
Command Master Chief Flynn is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy Class 123 (Khaki Group), the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Command Leadership School's CMC/COB Course and National Defense University’s Keystone Course. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology-Web Management from University of Phoenix, and a Master of Arts degree in Computer Resources and Information Systems Management from Webster University.
His Personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
