|CDR Scott Hudson
CDR Hudson is from West Chester, Ohio. He enlisted in 1981 and served in a variety of assignments at sea and overseas until selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program. A 1992 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH, Hudson earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration based in Aviation Operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
At sea he served division officer tours in USS LEFTWICH (DD 984) as First Lieutenant and simultaneously as Fire Control Officer, Missiles Officer and Systems Testing Officer, and as commissioning navigator of USS THE SULLIVANS. Upon completion of department head school in Newport, R.I., LCDR Hudson was assigned as Operations Officer on board USS HOPPER. During his second department head tour he was assigned as Operations Officer on the staff of Destroyer Squadron 21 serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.
Hudson served as Tomahawk Strike Officer in Cruiser Destroyer Group TWO on board USS Harry S. Truman in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Executive Officer aboard USS CHAFEE serving again in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Commanding Officer of Maritime Expeditionary Squadron FIVE deployed to Kuwait in Operation Iraqi Freedom as Commander, Task Group 56.5. His previous sea assignment was as Surface Operations Officer of Carrier Strike Group SEVEN.
Ashore, he served as Deputy Director, Professional Development Division at the United States Naval Academy, in the OPNAV staff at the Pentagon in N81. Before reporting to the USS PELELIU (LHA 5) he served as Sealift Officer in the Joint Staff J4.
Hudson assumed his duties as Executive Officer of PELELIU in March 2014.
Hudson’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, service and campaign awards.
