A native of Killingly, CT and a 1998 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Commander Douglas Meagher has served in an array of sea and shore assignments.

Meagher’s sea duty assignments includes service in a frigate, destroyer, cruiser and multiple littoral combat ships. During these tours he deployed to Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Fleet in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, and participated in UNITAS-00, UNITAS-01, MALABAR-08, Thai and Malaysian PASSEX and dual-Carrier Strike Group Operations with Task Force 70. He most recently served as Executive Officer of LCS Crew 203 in USS Coronado (LCS 4) during the Navy’s first-ever launch of the Norwegian Naval Strike Missile and in USS Jackson (LCS 6) during the ship’s Fitting-Out. In previous sea service, Commander Meagher worked as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), where he was recognized as the Ronald Reagan Strike Group “Tactician of the Year” in 2008. He also completed division officer tours as Damage Control Assistant and Fire Control Officer.

Ashore Commander Meagher has served on staff in the Naval War College’s Center for Naval Warfare Studies, primarily supporting the Navy’s “Global” Title 10 War Game. He also served at the Center for Surface Combat Systems Learning Site Dam Neck. Meagher earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Master’s of Arts in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

His current assignment is Commanding Officer, LCS Crew 203, during which he has embarked USS Jackson (LCS 6), USS Independence (LCS 2) and USS Coronado (LCS 4), earning him the distinction as the first Officer to command as many as three Littoral Combat Ships. He is currently forward deployed in Coronado (LCS 4) during the LCS-2 Variant’s maiden overseas deployment.

CDR Meagher’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (6), Navy Achievement Medal (3), & various Unit & Campaign awards.
