|Commander Michael B. Davies
Commander Mike Davies grew up in Brentwood, California and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with distinction in May 1995, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Technical Management from the Johns Hopkins University- Applied Physics Laboratory and completed his Joint Military Professional Education (JPME) Phase I through the Air Command and Staff College in 2007.
His sea duty assignments included tours in USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64) as Communications Officer and First Lieutenant where he deployed to the 6th and 5th Fleet regions; Reactor Electrical Division Officer in USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) during an overseas deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation DESERT FOX; Operations Officer in USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), deploying to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM (OIF/OEF) and during FITZ's transition to the FDNF in 2004 for Ballistic Missile Defense development; Reactor Training Assistant and Assistant Reactor Officer in USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), again deploying to the Arabian Gulf in support of OIF/OEF; Executive Officer in USS MAHAN (DDG 72) during an overseas deployment to the Horn of Africa (HOA) in support of the Global War on Terrorism; and Executive Officer in USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56).
Ashore, he was a Professional Development instructor at the United States Naval Academy and Executive Assistant to the Director, Leadership Ethics and Law; served as an inspector on the United States Fleet Forces Command Naval Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board (NPEB); and completed a 12-month joint assignment in Iraq from 2008-09 with the Joint IED Defeat Organization- Field Team Iraq, conducting counter IED operations and assessments on technological initiatives.
Commander Davies' awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit and service awards.
