USS Milwaukee (LCS-5) is the fifth ship to be named for the city of Milwaukee, the largest city in Wisconsin. Wisconsin has a long history of ship building dating back to the 19th century.
The USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) is the 5th Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and the 3rd of the Freedom variant. Her keel was laid down on 27 October 2011 and commissioned on 21 November 2015 . One of the improvements for USS Milwaukee are specially designed waterjets that replace the commercial versions used on previous LCS.
