Command Master Chief - LCS Crew 111
Master Chief Greg Garcia is a native of Glendale, CA. He enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program in 1988. He completed Basic Training at Naval Training Center, San Diego, CA in 1989 and attended AMH ‘A’ School in Millington Memphis, TN. His first duty station was HELICOPTER ANTISUBMARINE LIGHT SQUADRON THREE FIVE (HSL-35), Naval Air Station North Island, CA where he deployed in support of OPERATION DESERT SHEILD. In 1992 he was assigned to HSL-49 DET 3 supporting OPERATION DESERT STORM, and transferred to AVIATION INTERMEDIATE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT at North Island, CA in 1995.
In 1998, he returned to active duty after a short period as a civilian and was ordered to SEA CONTROL SQUADRON TWO ONE (VS-21) Atsugi, Japan where he deployed with CARRIER AIRWING FIVE (CVW5) onboard USS KITTY HAWK earning his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. He served four years as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. qualifying as a Master Training Specialist. He was selected as Chief Petty Officer at his next tour of duty; HELICOPTER MINECOUNTER MEASURE SQUADRON FIFTEEN (HM-15), Corpus Christi, TX. He promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer upon reporting to HELICOPTER ANTI-SUBMARINE SQUADRON FOURTEEN (HS-14) Japan, where he deployed onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON earning his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.
He was selected as Command Senior Chief in 2012 and graduated from the U.S. Navy Master Enlisted Academy in 2012 before transferring to Littoral Combat Ship Five (LCS-5), PCU USS MILWAUKEE where he currently serves as the Command Master Chief for Crew 111.
Master Chief Garcia has deployed on the following additional ships: USS BAGLEY (FF-1069); USS FOX (CG-33); USS VINCENNES (CG-49). His personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (5 awards) and various other unit and campaign awards.
