A native of Beaufort, South Carolina, CDR Brasseur graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1997 with degrees in Chemistry and Secondary Education. He was commissioned through the NROTC program in May of 1997.
CDR Brasseur’s sea tours include USS DEYO (DD 989), where he served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, deploying to the Mediterranean in support of Standing Naval Forces Mediterranean. Onboard USS SHAMAL (PC 13), he served as Weapons and Executive Officer, deploying to the Arabian Gulf in support of Naval Special Warfare UNIT THREE. He served as Operations Officer onboard USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS (FFG 58) deploying to Central and South America in support of UNITAS. As a Lieutenant, he Commanded USS WHIRLWIND (PC 11) forward deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Most recently, he served as Executive Officer onboard USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36) deploying to Central and South America on OPERATION SOUTHERN SEAS.
Ashore, he completed the DC INTERN program with placements at DEEP BLUE and the WHITE HOUSE Homeland Security Council, while earning his Master’s of Arts degree in Organizational Management from the George Washington University. CDR Brasseur is fluent in Spanish, having attended the Defense Language Institute prior to completing the Command and Staff Course at the Argentine Naval War College in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has also served as FIFTH FLEET Battle Watch Captain at NAVCENT in Bahrain.
CDR Brasseur¹s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 gold stars), Navy Achievement Medal (1 gold star), and various unit and service awards.
