Senior Chief Lucas Jenkins is a native of Chesterfield, MO. He entered active naval service in March 1999, reporting to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Gunner’s Mate “A” School followed by MK45 5”/54 Caliber Gunner’s Mate “C” School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

On USS SPRUANCE (DD 963), he participated in Operation NOBLE EAGLE in response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001. Additionally, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, he deployed to the Mediterranean Sea while assigned as a gun mount captain and surface search and rescue swimmer.

After completion of Basic Instructor School, Senior Chief Jenkins reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL as a Water Survival Instructor, where he was assigned to administer the Navy’s Second and Third Class swim tests and provide remedial swim instruction to Navy Recruits. During his tour, he was promoted to GM1 and earned his Master Training Specialist qualification. Following a 36 month tour, he received orders to MK75 76mm Gunner’s Mate “C” School in Virginia Beach, VA. During his “C” School, he was selected and promoted to Chief Petty Officer and subsequently received orders to USS ELROD (FFG 55) stationed in Norfolk, VA.

Assigned as CG and AT/FP Division LCPO, he completed a deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to the North Atlantic and Artic Ocean geographical areas as well as participation in Africa Partnership Station. He earned numerous qualifications including Combat Systems Officer of the Watch (CSOOW), Anti-Terrorism Tactical Watch Officer (ATTWO), Combat Information Center Watch Officer (CICWO), and Officer of the Deck Underway (OOD U/W). After a successful 36 month tour, he screened and was selected for assignment to Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG) in Virginia Beach, VA.

Soon after reporting to NSWDG, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. As Combat Systems Department and Range Division LCPO he was responsible for the testing and development of numerous cutting edge technological pieces of equipment utilized by our Nation’s most elite combat forces. He completed Joint Special Operations Task Force combat support deployments to Afghanistan as a Deputy Chief of Operations/Senior Enlisted Advisor and to the Horn of Africa area of responsibility also as a Senior Enlisted Advisor.

Prior to the completion of a highly successful four year tour, he was board-selected into the Command Senior Chief program and received orders to USS CORONADO (LCS 4) Crew 204 as the Command Senior Chief and 3M Coordinator.

He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 169 and Command Master Chief Course, Class 124. Additionally, he holds an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree from Excelsior College of New York.

Senior Chief Jenkins’ personal awards include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 bronze oak leaf), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 gold stars), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (1 silver star).

Additionally, he is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist insignias.
