Senior Chief Petty Officer Compton is a native of Hartford, CT. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1993 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1994. Following Basic Training in Great Lakes, IL, he attended MS “A” School in San Diego, CA.
Upon graduation from CS “A” School, he reported for duty to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in Norfolk, VA where he helped his team of Mess Specialist win the Edward F. Ney Award for food excellence.
Ashore, Senior Chief Compton was stationed at NETC Newport, RI from December 1998 to January 2002 as the CBH manger and the Front Desk Supervisor. In his short time ashore he helped Naval Station Newport earn its Five-Star Admiral Zumwalt accreditation for excellence in hotel hospitality.
In 2002 he returned to sea-duty assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron- EIGHT-TWO (VFA-82) where he completed two deployments onboard the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) and one onboard the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) for Operation Enduring Freedom. In September 2005 he helped decommission VFA-82.
In November 2005 he reported to NRD Philadelphia as a Recruiter-in-Charge and Zone Supervisor. He also served as the Command Managed Equal Opportunity (CMEO) Manager and the Command Assessment Team (CAT) Leader.
In November 2008 he reported to class # 142 of the Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA).
In January 2009 he transferred to the USS O’KANE (DDG 77) where he assumed the duties as the Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. Only after three weeks onboard he assumed duties as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the retired CMC. In 2010 Senior Chief Compton was selected by the Navy to serve as a Command Senior Chief and was directed to attend joint training school via the Army Sergeants Major Academy - class # 62.
In July of 2011 he made his third trip to Naval Station Newport to attend the CMC/COB course – class # 91.
On August 11, 2011 Command Senior Chief Compton reported to PCU CORONADO (LCS 4) GOLD to serve as the Senior Enlisted Leader and the 3M Coordinator.
Senior Chief Compton has an Associate of Science Degree in Management and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Management from Park University. He completed his graduate degree with The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in Arts with a leadership concentration.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit citations. Additionally, he is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) designations.
