|LCDR Douglas Meagher

Lieutenant Commander Douglas Meagher is a native of Danielson, Connecticut, and a 1998 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering.
During his most recent sea duty assignment, LCDR Meagher reported to USS SHILOH (CG 67) as Weapons Officer and soon thereafter conducted a Hull Swap with USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62), returning the ship to her maiden homeport of San Diego, California. As Weapons Officer on CHANCELLORSVILLE, he served as EDSRA Coordinator for her 6-month Cruiser Modernization Overhaul, and led his department through multiple warfare area certifications. After fleeting-up to Combat Systems Officer, LCDR Meagher completed two deployments to the FIFTH Fleet Area of Responsibility in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. During these deployments, he supported multiple engagements in SEVENTH Fleet to include MALABAR-08, PASSEX with the Thai and Malayan Navies and dual-Carrier Strike Group Operations with Commander, Task Force 70. For his meritorious efforts, LCDR Meagher was recognized as the RONALD REAGAN Strike Group Tactician of the Year in 2008.
LCDR Meagher completed his division officer tours in Norfolk, Virginia as Damage Control Assistant in USS ESTOCIN (FFG 15) earning his Surface Warfare Officer Designation, and later as Fire Control Officer in USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81) where he completed his initial Tactical Action Officer Qualification. During these tours, he supported Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, UNITAS-00 & UNITAS-01, and a Counter-Narcotics deployment.
Ashore LCDR Meagher earned his Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Unites States Naval War College in 2011. He accepted orders to remain on staff in the college’s War Gaming Department, primarily supporting the Navy’s “Global” Title 10 War Game.
