|CDR Douglas Meagher
Commanding Officer - Crew 203
A native of Killingly, CT, Commander Douglas Meagher is a 1998 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy having earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Systems Engineering.
CDR Meagher served as Executive Officer of Crew 203 from April 2014 to October 2015, including service in USS JACKSON (LCS 6) during the ship’s Fitting-Out, and in USS CORONADO (LCS 4) for the U.S. Navy’s first ever launch of a Norwegian Naval Strike Missile, an event which showcased the unprecedented modularity, flexibility & capability of the LCS sea frame.
In previous sea service, CDR Meagher reported as Weapons Officer in USS CHANCELLORVILLE (CG 62) in 2006. He served as Availability Coordinator for the ship’s Cruiser Modernization, and led his department through multiple warfare certifications. After fleeting-up to Combat Systems Officer, he completed two deployments to FIFTH Fleet in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM. During these deployments, CDR Meagher operated in SEVENTH Fleet to include MALABAR-08, Thai & Malayan Navy PASSEX & dual-Carrier Strike Group Operations with Test Force 70. For his meritorious efforts, he was recognized as the RONALD REAGAN Strike Group ‘Tactician of the Year’ in 2008. CDR Meagher completed division officer tours in Norfolk, Virginia, earning his Surface Warfare Officer designation & initial Tactical Action Officer qualification, including service during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
Ashore CDR Meagher earned a Master’s of Arts in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in 2011. He remained on staff in the College’s Center for Naval Warfare Studies, primarily supporting the Navy’s “Global” Title 10 War Game.
CDR Meagher’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (6), Navy Achievement Medal (3), & various Unit & Campaign awards.
