|LCDR Shelby Baecker
Executive Officer - Crew 202
Lieutenant Commander Shelby Baecker is a native of Detroit, Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History from the United States Naval Academy. He was commissioned an ensign in May 1998.
LCDR Baecker’s sea assignments include: Personal Exchange Officer (afloat) in the Brazilian Training Ship NE BRASIL (U-27); Electrical Officer, Damage Control Assistant, and Navigator in USS CARNEY (DDG-64); and Operations Officer in USS RENTZ (FFG 46). As commanding officer of PC Crew ECHO, he commanded USS THUNDERBOLT (PC 12), homeported in Little Creek, VA, for training and certification during various periods from April to July 2007 and again from February to April 2008, and USS WHIRLWIND (PC 11), forward deployed to Bahrain, from July 2007 to January 2008. Additionally, he served as future operations officer on the staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group SEVEN.
Ashore LCDR Baecker has served as Training Liaison Officer and Operations Scheduler on the staff of Afloat Training Group Western Pacific, as Future Operations Planner and Global Force Management Officer on the Staff of Commander, U.S. THIRD Fleet, and as Future Training and Readiness Officer on the Staff of Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
LCDR Baecker is currently serving as the Executive Office of Littoral Combat Ship Crew Two Zero Two.
LCDR Baecker holds a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University Kelley School of Business and a Master of Arts, with distinction, in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. While assigned to the War College he participating in and served as adversary team lead for a directed research project focusing on pacific theater war gaming.
LCDR Baecker’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
