Command Senior Chief - Crew 201

Senior Chief Christopher Cline is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He enlisted in the Navy as an undesignated Airman in 1992.
NCCS Cline reported for Basic Training at RTC Great Lakes on December 7th 1992 with follow-on orders to Airman Apprenticeship training. His initial tour was with VAQ-131, home ported in Whidbey Is., Washington, deploying on the USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64) serving as an Aviation Storekeeper assigned to the Maintenance Department. He was advanced to PO3 and earned his EAWS qualification. In 1997 he changed ratings to Air Traffic Controller and was assigned to NAS Whiting Field, Milton Florida as a Facility Watch Supervisor. While there he was advanced to PO2. Following his tour in Florida he transferred to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) where he was assigned as the Air Operations Supervisor in the Carrier Air Traffic Control Center, Marshal and Final controller. While onboard the qualified ESWS and deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon the completion of this tour in 2002 he changed rating again and received orders to Navy Career Counselor School with follow on orders to VAW-115 home ported in Atsugi, Japan and assigned to the USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63). He served as the Carrier Air Wing Five Career Counselor, Command Career Counselor and ADMIN LPO.
In 2004 NCCS Cline reported to the USS DUBUQUE (LPD-8), San Diego, California where he received an Associate and Bachelors degree in science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and was selected to Chief Petty Officer. Leaving this tour the following assignment was to Navy Recruiting District St. Louis and was assigned as a Zone Supervisor for the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area. In 2009 he was assigned to Naval Forward Headquarters Afghanistan where he served as the Command Career Counselor for all IA, GSA and Reserve Sailors in Afghanistan. In Feb of 2011 he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 157 Gold) and was transferred to the USS ESSEX (LHD-2), forward deployed in Sasebo, Japan. While there he was advanced to Senior Chief and after a hull swap with the USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6) he served as the Command Career Counselor and the Deck Department LCPO.
He is a graduate of the 116th Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course and is currently serving as the Command Senior Chief of USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) (BLUE CREW).
NCCS Cline’s awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards) and Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards).
