Commander Christopher A. Brown is a 1993 graduate of New York’s College of Aeronautics. He earned his commission in 1998 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.
His initial operational sea tour was in USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3), serving as Assault Officer, Auxiliaries Officer, and Assistant Combat Information Center Officer completing a deployment to the Mediterranean supporting actions in Kosovo and Macedonia. He then served as Fire Control Officer in USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62) in Yokosuka, Japan where he completed multiple exercises and deployments with the KITTY HAWK CARRIER STRIKE GROUP. Following graduation from Department Head School, he reported to USS JAMES E. WILLIAMS (DDG 95) as Engineer Officer, completing a successful deployment to the FIFTH and SIXTH FLEET areas of responsibility with the ENTERPRISE CARRIER STRIKE GROUP. He assumed command of Patrol Coastal Crew GOLF and USS SQUALL (PC 7) in June 2007 and completed a deployment to the Northern Arabian Gulf in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM embarked in USS TYPHOON (PC 5). In August 2008 Commander Brown assumed command of USS MONSOON (PC 4) in Little Creek, VA. He reported to Commander Carrier Strike Group TEN (CCSG 10) in November 2008 where he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration (N1) and Flag Secretary, completing a combat deployment in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM with the HARRY S TRUMAN CARRIER STRIKE GROUP.
Ashore, Commander Brown attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He served as a Current Ships and Maintenance Requirements Officer on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Surface Warfare Division (N96).
His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and expeditionary awards.
