Commander Timothy Wilke is a native of Schaumburg, Illinois. In 1996 he received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and a commission in the United States Navy from Marquette University.

At sea, Commander Wilke’s first Division Officer tour was aboard USS RENTZ (FFG 46), homeported out of San Diego CA, where he served as Ordnance Officer from 1996 - 1998. His second Division Officer tour was aboard USS CHOSIN (CG 65), homeported out of Pearl Harbor HI, where he served as Main Propulsion Assistant from 1998-2000. From 2001 till 2003 Commander Wilke served as Flag Aide to Commander NIMITZ Battle Group out of San Diego. Commander Wilke’s Department Head tours were as Operations Officers on USS DECATUR (DDG 73), from 2003 to 2005, and USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57), from 2005-2006, both out of San Diego. His sea tours included multiple deployments to the Arabian Gulf and Arabian sea supporting United Nations sanctions against Iraq, and Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ashore, Commander Wilke served as the Maintenance Type Desk Officer to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific in Singapore from 2000 through 2001. In 2006 he attended the Naval War College in Newport RI where he earned a Masters in National Defense Policy, Strategic Studies. Commander Wilke’s subsequent tour ashore was as a Future Plans (N5) Staff Officer assigned to the Headquarters Maritime Command Naples Italy, NATO Forces Southern Europe supporting Operation Active Endeavour.

Commander Wilke’s previous assignment was as Executive Officer USS FREEDOM GOLD Crew from February 2011 till July 2012. He has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars, the Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and various unit and campaign awards.
