Executive Officer

Commander Jason Eckhardt is a native of League City, Texas and enlisted in the Navy in 1989 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1998, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from San Diego State University and commissioned in May 2000.

His initial fleet assignment in 2001 was USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) where he served as the Repair Officer, Electrical Officer, Combat Systems Officer and Training Officer, completing deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2007, he reported for his first department head tour as the Chief Engineer onboard USS CROMMELIN (FFG 37) completing an Eastern Pacific deployment in support of Counter Narco-Terrorism Operations. His second department head tour in 2009 was onboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) the Seventh Fleet Flag Ship as First Lieutenant, forward deployed in support of Seventh Fleet Operations.

Ashore, in 2004 CDR Eckhardt reported to Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific where he was the lead instructor for Global Command and Control System- Maritime (GCCS-M) course. Upon completion of his department head tours in 2010, he reported to OPNAV N95 Expeditionary Warfare Division as the Mine Countermeasures Mission Requirements Officer. While there, he served an Individual Augmentee (IA) as Deputy Current Operations for Combined Maritime Forces at NAVCENT conducting counter piracy and narcotic operations with a multinational force of 25 nations. From 2013-2015 he commanded Navy Operational Support Center, White River Junction, VT.  He earned a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego and attended Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB earning a Master of Arts degree in Military Operational Arts and Science.

He is the currently the Executive Officer for USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19).

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards) as well as numerous campaign and unit awards.
