Senior Chief Petty Officer John P. Cordero is assigned to the USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) as the Command Senior Chief home-ported at Everett, Washington. Senior Chief Cordero, a native of the Bronx, New York, enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1992. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida he completed Yeoman "A" School with honors in March 1993.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Fleet Composite Squadron EIGHT (VC-8) at Naval Air Station, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. His follow-on tours include Construction Battalion Unit FOUR ONE FOUR (CBU-414) at Naval Submarine Base New London, Connecticut; Naval Reserve Center, Tampa, Florida; Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit, SUNY Maritime College, Bronx, New York; Executive Transport Detachment, Sigonella, Sicily; Fleet Logistics Support Wing at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, Texas.
Senior Chief Cordero graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy, Newport, Rhode Island in July 2007 (Class 132-Brown). After his selection to the Command Senior Chief Program he attended the CMC/COB Capstone Course (Class 92). Senior Chief Cordero has earned an Associate of Applied Science in Administrative Business Studies degree from Excelsior College.
Senior Chief Cordero's decorations include the Joint Service Commendation medal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four gold stars); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (one silver star and one gold star); and various service and campaign awards. Senior Chief Cordero has earned the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Insignia.
