|Commander Joseph Casale
Commander Joe Casale is a native of Toms River, NJ. In 1997 he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps as a Special Operations Officer.
At sea has served as First Lieutenant, Gunnery Officer, and Diving and Salvage Officer in MCM Rotational Crew Bravo on the USS PIONEER (MCM-9) in Ingleside, TX and USS ARDENT (MCM-12) in Manama, Bahrain. Commander Casale opted to continue as a Surface Warfare Officer and served his second sea tour in the USS SHILOH (CG-67) as the Main Propulsion Assistant. As a department head, he served as the Chief Engineer on USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG-57), homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, deploying to the Arabian Gulf and Horn of Africa, and the Materiel Officer for Commander Destroyer Squadron One supporting CARAT 2007 and 2008.
Ashore he has served as a Gas Turbine Engineering Instructor at Surface Warfare Officer School, a Special Assistant to the Commander on the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, and US Naval Forces Europe and Africa Staff, and as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Maintenance Officer for Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific.
Commander Casale’s holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. His awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), the Battle “E” award onboard the USS SHILOH (CG-67), and USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG-57), and various Navy/Marine Corps sea service ribbons.
