Executive Officer (April 2010 - October 2011)
CDR Kyle is native of Woodstock, Illinois and attended the United States Naval Academy. He received a Bachelor's of Science degree in History and was commissioned in 1995.
CDR Kyle served as Communications Officer in USS LEFTWICH (DD 984), homeported in Pearl Harbor. In 1998, he was an OIC of a MK V Special Operations Craft Detachment for Special Boat Unit Twelve in San Diego. CDR Kyle was selected for the All-Navy wrestling team in 1998 and 2001 and represented the Navy at the Armed Forces Championship and the U.S. Nationals. CDR Kyle transferred to his first shore duty assignment in Afloat Training Group Pacific and served as a Training Liaison Officer. He trained 7 ships during his tenure including serving as Force TLO for ATF West as they transited to support Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In 2003, CDR Kyle began his tour as Combat Systems Officer in USS MCCLUSKY (FFG 41) stationed in San Diego. CDR Kyle’s next assignment was aboard USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62) and USS SHILOH (CG 67) as the Operations Officer in 2005 forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan. USS SHILOH and CHANCELLORSVILLE completed a hull swap and these ships served as Air Defense Commander for the USS KITTY HAWK and USS ENTERPRISE STRIKE GROUP. In 2007, he completed a Masters degree at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. After this tour he reported as Current Operations Officer for United States Strategic Command Joint Information Operations Warfare Center in San Antonio, Texas. CDR Kyle assumed duties as Executive Officer of USS GARY (FFG 51) in April 2010.
His personal awards include the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals and three Navy Achievement Medals. He also won DESRON ONE award’s for Junior Officer Tactician and Surface Navy Association Arleigh Burke award.
