Executive Officer

LCDR Bob “AB” Jones enlisted in the Navy in March, 1992.  He served on USS Essex (LHD 2) and USS Sacramento (AOE 1) as a Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class before being selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1997.  He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona with bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science and was commissioned in May, 2000.

As a Surface Warfare Officer, Jones served as Damage Control Assistant and Assistant Weapons Officer aboard USS Decatur (DDG 73) and then as the Chief Engineer aboard USS Milius (DDG 69).

In addition to his shipboard assignments, Jones has served in staff billets as the Material Officer at Amphibious Squadron 5 (CPR 5) and as the Amphibious and Maritime Security Operations Officer at Strike Force Training Pacific (SFTP).  He also completed two Global War on Terrorism Support Assignments, first as a Joint Operations Center Watch Officer at USCENTCOM Headquarters and then as the Surface Maintenance Officer for Expeditionary Strike Group 5 (ESG 5) in Manama, Bahrain. Prior to assuming his current position, Jones was the Operations Officer at Engineering Assessments Pacific . 

LCDR Jones has completed six Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf deployments.  He has earned master’s degrees in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College and History (distinction) from National University.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and other service medals and ribbons.
