CDR Chris Budde is a native of St. Louis, Missouri.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1985 as a non-designated Seaman.
From 1986 to 1991 he served on various ships, advancing to Quartermaster First Class.
He was commissioned in 1993 through the Navy ROTC Unit at Oregon State University.
He served afloat on USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) as Communications and Auxiliaries Officer, USS ANZIO (CG 68) as Operations Officer, Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer, USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85) as Executive Officer, and Destroyer Squadron 21 as Chief Staff Officer.
Ashore he served as an instructor at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center, Dahlgren, Virginia and on the Staff of the Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps both in Iraq and at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
CDR Budde holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (History) from Oregon State University and a Master of Arts Degree (National Security Studies) from Georgetown University.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, as well as other unit, campaign and service awards.
