Executive Officer (July 2011 - Novermber 2012)

Lieutenant Commander Jimenez was raised in El Paso, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at El Paso where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems in 1997. He then received his commission in November 1997 through the Officer Candidate School program.

His initial sea assignment was aboard USS CLEVELAND (LPD 7) from July 1998 to July 2000 as Third Division and Ordinance Officer. Operational deployments include RIMPAC-98, and a Western Pacific / Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch and Exercise Eager Mace. Following his tour in CLEVELAND, he served aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) from July 2000 to February 2002 as Assistant First Lieutenant and Auxiliaries Officer where he completed deployments in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ashore he served on the staff of Commander Naval Surface Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet in the Warfare Requirements directorate from February 2002 to March 2003. In 2003, he reported to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California and earned his Master’s degree in Systems Engineering and Analysis. He then attended Surface Warfare Department Head School in Newport, RI.
 
LCDR Jimenez’ first department head tour was aboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) from December 2005 to June 2007 as Operations Officer. He deployed with ESG-3 on a Western Pacific / Arabian Gulf deployment that included OPLAT Defense, Maritime Security, and Training of Iraqi Naval Forces in the Arabian Gulf. From June 2007 to October 2008, he completed his second department head tour as First Lieutenant aboard USS BOXER (LHD 4), where he deployed to SOUTHCOM AOR in support of Operation Continuing Promise.

From October 2008 to July 2010, LCDR Jimenez served on the staff of Commander Naval Surface Forces U.S Pacific Fleet as CO of Troops, and Current Readiness and Certifications Officer in the Training and Readiness Directorate. 

He then reported to USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8) in October 2010 as Executive Officer deploying with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of Maritime Interdiction Operations, earning a Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Battle Efficiency Award. In April 2011 LCDR Jimenez was assigned as the Commanding Officer, USS DUBUQUE where he executed the decommissioning of the ship after her 44 years of service.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards).
