Command Senior Chief

Senior Chief Lamkin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Pensacola, Florida . He enlisted in the Navy in September 1990 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois and Signalman “A” School in Orlando, Florida.

His sea tours have been USS Forrestal (CV-59), two tours on USS Boone (FFG-28), USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), USS Simon Lake (AS-33), USS Taylor (FFG-50), USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49), and USS Simpson (FFG-56).

His shore tours have been United States Naval Academy and two tours as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.

Senior Chief Lamkin assumed his current assignment as the Command Senior Chief for USS Vandegrift (FFG-48) in April 2013.

Senior Chief Lamkin is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and is qualified to wear the Craftmaster Breast insignia and is certified as a Master Training Specialist. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and numerous campaign medals and ribbons. Senior Chief Lamkin is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 171 (Brown) and CMC/COB class 113. He earned his Associates of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Oceanography Technology from Coastline Community College.
