SAN DIEGO - USS Rentz (FFG 46) marked the end of Sexual Assault Awareness Month with a Sexual Assault Awareness Run at Bainbridge ark on Apr. 26. 105 Sailors from five commands at Naval Base San Diego ran to show their support for survivors of sexual assault.
Volunteers kept track of how many laps each runner completed on posters given to the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator’s (SARC) office at Fleet and Family Support Center. The 105 participants in the run logged 1051 total laps, adding up to approximately 263 miles. The participant with the most laps was Seaman James Johnson from the USS Rentz who ran 52 laps, and the second place participant was LTJG Brick Christensen from the USS Howard who ran 51 laps.
SARC Katherine Wager stood by to answer questions from Sailors curious about the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. Other volunteers included LTJG Ashley Valanzola, Ensign Joseph Hoff, PS1 Peter Cortes, CTT1 Kristianne Chardon and CTT2 Morgan Selders.
