Master Chief Gabriel is a native of Agana Guam and graduated from Garfield High School in San Diego, CA. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1994 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL. After completing Apprenticeship Training, he headed to Naval Air Station North Island, CA as an Undesignated Airman Recruit in which he struck and became a Storekeeper Third Class. His first sea tour was onboard USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG-57) from 1998 – 2002 and served as Stores Division Leading Petty Officer, Financial Manager, Work Center Supervisor, and DLR/MAMS Manager. His second sea tour was onboard USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG-48) from 2005 - 2006, Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan as Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and the Command Career Counselor, followed by a homeport shift with USS MUSTIN (DDG-89), served onboard from 2006 - 2008 as Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and is currently serving onboard USS THACH (FFG-43) as Command Master Chief. His shore duty assignments include: Naval Air Station North Island from 1994 - 1997, Construction Battalion Unit FOUR TWO SEVEN from 2002 - 2005, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit THREE ZERO THREE in 2005 and Naval Special Warfare Command from 2008 – 2010. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (MOVSM) and various service and campaign awards. He graduated from Senior Enlisted Academy, (Gray) Class 142 and CMC/COB Course, Class 73.
