Commander Jonathan (Jon) Good was born Erie, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1993 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He received his commission from Officer Candidate School Pensacola in August 1995. He then immediately reported to Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island for Division Officer School.
CDR Good’s sea duty assignments include tours as CICO/AUXO in USS CIMARRON (AO 177), CICO/AOPS in USS RUSSELL (DDG 59), OPS in USS LABOON (DDG 58), and OPS in USS SHILOH (CG 67). He also has completed three WESTPAC deployments and a MED cruise.
On shore duty, he earned a Masters of Arts degree in National Security Affairs with a focus on the Far East/China from the Naval Postgraduate School in April 2000. Additionally, he served on the OPNAV staff, N091, Surface Warfare Test and Evaluation from July 2005 to September 2008. His most recent assignment was a GSA assignment to EUCOM J5/8 Strategy.
