Commander Hans Lynch graduated from Purdue University with Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Purdue University and was commissioned through the NROTC program in 1995.
After initial training, he reported to USS BOXER (LHD 4) in 1996 as the First Division Officer and then the Second Division Officer. In 1998 he reported to USS PRINCETON (CG 59) where he served as Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer, Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer. During his tour USS PRINCETON participated in OPERATION DESERT FOX.
Commander Lynch department head tours were onboard USS STETHEM (DDG 63) and USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) as Chief Engineer. During his tour on USS BUNKER HILL he participated in the opening salvos of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
From 2008-2009 Commander Lynch served as Commanding Officer of the rotational MCM CREW SWERVE, onboard USS SENTRY (MCM 3) and then USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11).
Commander Lynch’s shore tours include Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, Staff Material Officer, Flag Aide and Deputy Executive Assistant at THIRD FLEET from 2004-2006 and the Joint Staff serving in the J-33 Joint Operations Directorate as an Action Officer in Central Command Division and as Branch Head in the Broader Middle East Division from 2010-2012. Additionally he is a 2007 graduate of the Naval War College and the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School.
His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Four Awards), Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign and unit awards.
