Master Chief Giordano, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, enlisted in the Navy in June 1989. Following completion of basic training at RTC, Orlando, Florida, he reported to Naval Technical Training Center Pensacola, Florida where he completed the Cryptologic Technician Technical Entry Level ELINT course.
Upon graduation, he reported to FAIRECONRON ONE (VQ-1) Agana, Guam serving as a Signals Analyst and Reporter. He also completed an operational deployment to NSGD Bahrain in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. After serving four years at VQ-1, Master Chief Giordano received orders as a Cryptologic Direct Support Element (CDSE) Electronic Support Measures (ESM) Supervisor at NSGA Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While assigned, he completed ten operational deployments aboard Pacific Fleet combatants and earned his Submarine Warfare designation.
His next assignment was at the National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) Fort Meade, Maryland as a Maritime Analysis Cell Analyst. In October 1999, Master Chief Giordano reported to NSGA Rota, Spain serving as a CDSE ESM Supervisor. During this tour, he completed three operational deployments and served aboard one allied combatant. Senior Chief Giordano then reported to the Center for Naval Leadership Pensacola, Florida for duties as the Entry Level ELINT CTT “A” School Course Manager and LCPO. During this assignment, Master Chief Giordano was designated Master Training Specialist and selected as the 2002 Instructor of the Year.
His next assignment was at Navy Information Operations Command, Fort Gordon, Georgia as a Cryptologic Direct Support Element Supervisor and later as the Fleet Cryptologic Augmentation Center Division Chief and Fleet Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. Master Chief Giordano graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 133 and reported on staff as a faculty advisor in September 2007. In August 2009, Master Chief Giordano assumed duties as Command Master Chief, USS MCCLUSKY (FFG 41). During this tour he earned his Surface Warfare designation.
His decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
