Aloha CROMMELIN Ohana!

I am your CROMMELIN Family Ombudsman.  I look forward to working with the CROMMELIN Ohana during my time as Ombudsman.

I have been married to my sailor for eight years and have two sons. We have spent nearly five wonderful years here in beautiful Hawaii! I grew up in Iowa, so Hawaii was a big change when we first moved here! We felt so lucky to return to Hawaii after three years away in the New York City Metro area. This is our second tour aboard CROMMELIN, we spent three years on board previously.

If you are not familiar with the Ombudsman program, the Ombudsman is here to be your voice to the command. We are also there for the Commanding Officer to relay information back to you. The Ombudsman program belongs to the command and is shaped by the CO's perception of the needs of CROMMELIN families. An Ombudsman is a voluntary representative of the command, appointed by the Commanding Officer and serves two important roles as both a communications link between the CO and command family members; and as a professionally trained information and referral specialist. I work under the guidance of the Command Master Chief, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer.

I have frequent contact with the command and relay information to our families via the ship's Yahoo Information Group (see below). Any of your family members are welcome to join this group to receive the most current information about our ship and command activities as well as events in the area. I can provide a confidential ear and a friendly voice to turn to in times of need or crisis. I am not a counselor, social worker, babysitter or a taxi service, but I am dedicated to pointing you in the right direction toward finding solutions to any issue that may come up. While serving in this role, I am committed to supporting our command's mission, maintaining strict confidentiality and working within the chain of command as I am directed.
