CDR David L. Reyes
Commanding Officer

Commander Reyes is a native of Defiance, Ohio and enlisted in 1993 under the Seaman Apprenticeship Program. While serving aboard his first ship, USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), he became a rated Quartermaster and was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) Program. As a graduate from the BOOST Program in 1996, he then attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and obtained his Commission and Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in August 2000.

His sea duty assignments were in Yokosuka, Japan serving in USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) as Electrical Officer and Combat Information Center Officer and USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG 56) as Damage Control Assistant. His Department Head tours were served in USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) and USS SHILOH (CG 67) as Chief Engineer. He then went on to serve on the staff of Commander Carrier Strike Group FIVE/ Commander Task Force 70 embarked on USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) as the Deputy Materiel, Logistics and Readiness Officer. Commander Reyes also served as Executive Officer in USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) while in Yokosuka, Japan and USS CHOSIN (CG 65) in Pearl Harbor, HI.

Ashore, he served as Assistant Chief of Staff in Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, Pearl Harbor.

He holds a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology (Joint C4I) from the Naval Postgraduate School and has completed the Naval War College non-resident course for Joint Professional Military Education Phase I.

CDR Reyes’ personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various other unit and campaign awards.
