Master Chief Ruane, a native of Chicago, Illinois, enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in September 1987. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California in November 1988 and reported to Naval Training Center, San Diego, California where he completed Radioman “A” School
Upon graduation, he reported to USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8) in Sasebo, Japan. Other fleet assignments include USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42), USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49), USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19), and USS ESSEX (LHD 2) which completed a successful Hull Swap with the USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6). In addition, Master Chief Ruane completed shore duty assignments at NAVCOMTELSTA Far East Detachment Sasebo, Japan, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Afloat Training Group, Middle Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Master Chief Ruane is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 146 (Grey), the CMC/COB Capstone Course, Class 101, and is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief to the USS HALSEY in San Diego, Ca. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Information Technology Management and has earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare, Aviation Warfare, Master Training Specialist, and Afloat Training Specialist designations.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
