CMDCM(SW/SS) David A. Unnone is a native of Frostburg, Maryland and graduated from Beall High School in 1985. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Delayed Entry Program in 1986.
Master Chief Unnone graduated from Recruit Training at Great Lakes and Basic Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. His first duty station was with the Precommission Unit USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734) in Groton, Connecticut.
Sea duty assignments have included: USS FRANCIS SCOTT KEY (SSBN 657) Charleston, South Carolina; USS FLYING FISH (SSN 673) Norfolk, Virginia; USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736) Kings Bay, Georgia; USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) Yokosuka, Japan; USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) in Norfolk Virginia.
Temporary assigned duties include USS LAFAYETTE (SSBN 616) in Holy lock, Scotland and USS HELENA (SSN 725) Groton, Connecticut while waiting for the commissioning USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734).
In 2008 Master Chief Unnone was selected for the Command Master Chief program and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy and U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy.
He has an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Excelsior University.
Master Chief Unnone reported in May 2008 as Command Master Chief in USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93), homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Master Chief Unnone military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and numerous unit citation and service awards.
