CDR David Faught
Executive Officer (September 2011 - September 2012)

Commander Faught is a native of Agana, Guam and raised in Clearlake, California. He received his commission from the U.S. Naval Academy after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering in 1996.

His first tour of duty was aboard USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59), where he served as Electrical Officer and Damage Control Assistant. In February 1999, CDR Faught Reported to USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56) as Fire Control Officer.

In September 2003, CDR Faught reported to USS DETROIT (AOE 4), serving as Operations Officer during DETROIT’s last deployment prior to decommissioning. CDR Faught then reported to USS GARY (FFG 51), serving as Chief Engineer from May 2004 to November 2005. In April 2006, CDR Faught took command of Patrol Coastal Crew Foxtrot, commanding USS HURRICANE (PC 3) and USS TYPHOON (PC 5) during his tour. He reported to USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93) in September 2011 as Executive Officer. He has deployed to the Arabian Gulf, Horn of Africa, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Caribbean Sea, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific Ocean.

CDR Faught obtained a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 2002. He completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I) through the Air Command and Staff College.

CDR Faught’s tours ashore include Fleet Exercises Officer and Ship’s Weapons Coordinator instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic; Surface Operations Officer and Fleet Scheduler for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command; and Flag Secretary to Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two.

CDR Faught’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
