CDR Ryan Collins Executive Officer (October 2012 - October 2013) |

CDR Ryan Collins is a native of Longview, Washington and grew up in Boise, Idaho. He is a 1997 graduate of Washington State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and was commissioned through the joint University of Idaho/Washington State University, Navy ROTC program.
His division officer tours included two deployments to the Arabian Gulf and assignments as Electrical Officer and Chief Engineer onboard USS JARRETT (FFG 33) and Fire Control Officer on USS BENFOLD (DDG 65), both home ported in San Diego, CA.
In 2002, following two sea tours in San Diego, he accepted orders to Washington, D.C. and reported to OPNAV N3/N5 as the Operations Officer for the Navy Operations Center.
After completing Department Head School in Newport, RI, he reported to the USS HOPPER (DDG 70) as the Chief Engineer where he completed a CARAT deployment to South East Asia, INSURV and participated in multiple ballistic missile defense tests. During that tour, he was awarded the 2006 U.S. Surface Forces Leadership Award. In February 2007 he reported to the staff of Destroyer Squadron 31 as the Operations Officer. There he made two humanitarian assistance deployments as part of Pacific Partnership 2007 and 2008 onboard the USS PELELIU (LHA 5) and the USNS MERCY (T-AH 19).
In September 2008, CDR Collins began a two-year assignment as Flag Aide and Aide de Camp to ADM Willard at U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Pacific Command.
He returned to sea duty in October 2012 where he currently serves as Executive Officer onboard USS CHUNG HOON (DDG 93).
His awards and decorations include two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, seven Navy Commendation Medals, one Navy Achievement Medal and various other unit and campaign awards.
