Command Master Chief
Master Chief Paul J. McFadden enlisted in the Navy and reported to basic training in 05 February 1985 at Recruit Training Command, Naval Training Center, San Diego, California. He graduated from Hospital Corps “A” School, San Diego, California in June and reported for duty as a General Duty Corpsman to Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia. In December of 1987, Master Chief McFadden transferred to Sewell’s Point Branch Medical Clinic, Naval Station, Norfolk, Virginia.
Master Chief McFadden attended Field Medical Service School, Camp Pendleton, California in April 1989 and upon graduation reported to 3RD Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Company, Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan where he qualified for the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon. After his promotion to Second Class Petty Officer, he attended and graduated from Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman School in June of 1993 and was meritoriously promoted to Petty Officer First Class and was reassigned to Branch Hospital, Adak, Alaska.
In February of 1996 Master Chief McFadden reported to Branch Clinic, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and deployed with Fleet Hospital FIVE to Port au Prince, Haiti. After completion of Surface Force Refresher Training he transferred to the USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan and qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Upon return to the states and completing Basic Instructor training he reported as an Instructor of Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman School, Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego, California in April of 2002 and attended Career Information Program Advisor (Career Counselor) School. He terminated shore duty to accept hot fill orders to the USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52), San Diego, California in April of 2004 and was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2005. After graduation from the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Master Chief McFadden transferred to Naval Hospital, Bremerton, Washington in June of 2007 and deployed as an Individual Augmentee in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to Special Operations Command, Europe. In April of 2009 he was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer and served as the Senior Enlisted Leader of Naval Branch Health Clinic, Bangor, Washington until he attended the Command Leadership School in March of 2010. He served as the Command Master Chief of VAQ-142 at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island until reporting onboard USS MOMSEN in November.
Master Chief McFadden’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
